Youth Beatz 2012 took place on Saturday 15th September 2012 at Dock Park, Dumfries. The free event was open from 12noon – 10.30pm with all 12,000 tickets being snapped up 8 weeks before the event!!!
Previously there had been a site closure in the middle of the event, creating a clear separation between daytime and evening parts. Based on evaluations, it was decided that the event would remain open from early afternoon until the evening.
After the success of the new ticketing system in 2011, tickets were once again required and could be obtained through registration at www.youthbeatz.co.uk
The afternoon focussed on engagement with young people with the return of the ever popular Wonderland Experience, activity based entertainment, youth services information and stage performances including Stavros Flattley local groups.
The evening was focussed more on music from the main stage with local acts entertaining the crowds until main acts Sean Vs The Robots, the LaFonatines, Tinchy Stryder and Alexandra Burke headlining the event.
Youth Beatz was managed through a partnership led by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Community Learning and Development, Nithsdale Youth Work team, part funded by Nithsdale Area Committee and its main sponsors were Stagecoach and Magnox North, Chapelcross.
