Youth Beatz 2011
Youth Beatz 2011 took place on Sa
turday 12th August 2011 at Dock Park, Dumfries. The free event was open from 10pm – 10.30pm and attracted an audience of 14,407
There were several new elements to Youth Beatz in 2011.
Previously there had been a site closure in the middle of the event, creating a clear separation between daytime and evening parts. Based on evaluations, it was decided that the event would remain open from early afternoon until the evening.
Although Youth Beatz remained free to enter, tickets were introduced for the first time and could be obtained through registration at www.youthbeatz.co.uk
The afternoon focussed on engagement with young people (Wonderland), activity based entertainment, youth services information and stage performances including Wagner from the TV show X Factor and local groups on the newly introduced second stage.
The evening was focussed more on music from the main stage with local acts entertaining the crowds until main acts Emma’s Imagination, Basshunter and Chipmunk appeared on stage.
Demand for tickets exceeded expectation with the 12,000 capacity selling out five days in advance
Youth Beatz was managed through a partnership led by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Community Learning and Development, Nithsdale Youth Work team, part funded by Nithsdale Area Committee and its main sponsors were Stagecoach and Magnox North, Chapelcross.
